Fuzzy Friends History & About Our Pet Food
Our Pet Food Pantry Mission: Following the example of St Francis of Assisi. we strive to enhance the lives of all animals by helping end animal hunger.
Fuzzy Friends Pet Food Pantry, is a Ministry of St Anne's Episcopal Church for low income, veterans, over the age of 70 and retired people who cannot afford dog or cat food. It was first started as a committee, led by JL in 2008. At that time, the Church was helping raise money and donations for the local rescue centers. While he was working at the Forsyth County Animal shelter, he had an idea and in 2015 with the help of St Anne's Episcopal Church the Fuzzy Friends Pet Food Pantry was started. The Ministry Director has learned that people with low incomes typically surrender their animals when they cannot afford to feed them. Unfortunately, their pets are surrendered to the animal shelter where many ends up being euthanized. His idea was "to help prevent people from having to surrender their pets because they could not afford to feed them" and to date Fuzzy Friends Pet Food Pantry has helped feed 2,000 pets. It is also the largest pet food pantry in a church in North Carolina. Fuzzy Friend Pet Food Pantry, A Ministry of St Anne's Episcopal Church only offers pet food assistance to help clients in need. We are not a human food pantry. We are only a Pet Food pantry. Fuzzy Friends is a free program for pet owners who cannot afford dog and cat food. The requirements for all owners are that they bring ID, proof of needing assistance, such as Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps or WIC and their cat or dog rabies shot records for each pet. The pantry is open to serve clients the 1st and the 4th Saturday of each month, from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM and also the 2nd & 3rd Friday, from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM. Due to the volume of the pets in need that we serve, we are need of donations of dry dog food and cat food. We are also in need of volunteers to help out with the set-up and distribution of pet food as well as assist clients with their applications. We would also love to have retired people volunteer to help on a daily basis. Starting January 2019, in order to receive pet food assistance, the papers you'll need to bring will be: 1. Proof of age 2. Proof current address 3. Proof of low income. (Such as FOOD STAMPS and or WIC or any other type of government assistance) 4. Rabies Information (Such as Certificate from the Veterinarian Hospital. This will start in Jan 2019 and if you do not have this information, we cannot help you with pet food)
